*Why We Do This...
The
future habitability and productivity of organizations, systems, and active inhabitants of
our planet require new and creative thinking. It is probably not too
late. But it is definitely time now to deal with how we will
successfully take care of seven or eight billion people wandering
around. This is true for technical and for social developments, all of
which ultimately affect the environment.
It is important to be focused on, and dedicated to, one's own primary
obligations, concerns,
and responsibilities. But it is also necessary -- not just altruistic --
for leading thinkers to see the big picture. Every new quote of the day
is a small nudge toward global thinking and further emphasis on human productivity...
Or, it may be a backhanded reference to something happening in the news.
Either way, we like to encourage people
to think big and to get psyched, to speak up, and to make real contributions. A few examples
of this kind of thinking can be found on our technical ideas page. And, if you are bored, check out our

remark by one of the strong thinkers quoted might get you started on a
